It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Allan Burns MBE.
Allan joined the charity, then known as ‘The International Reconstructive Plastic Surgery (Ghana) Project’ as a Fundraiser in 2001, and was responsible for finding much of its funding, securing donations in kind, surgical equipment and medical supplies, sending two 40ft containers to Ghana.
Allan was a true enthusiast and stalwart mover and supporter of the Charity, which benefited greatly from his passion and enthusiasm. In 2010 after a decision to change the charity’s name to represent its growing interests and new focus on Sierra Leone, Allan came up with ‘ReSurge Africa”.
Allan retired from his position at the end of 2013 but remained interested in the Charity’s progress and work.
He was a truly fine man and all the members of the charity are greatly saddened by his loss. Our thoughts are with his wife Janette, and his three children Marion, Jen and Doug. May he rest in peace.
