Sierra Leonean trainee reconstructive surgeon and Ghanaian nurses to return from India

Richmond Baah, Benedicta Appiah, Dr Abdulai Jalloh and Anita Boatema Akoto (pictured here with Ganga Hospital staff)  are nearing the end of their 3 month placement at Ganga Hospital.  Dr Jalloh attended a Microsurgery course at Ganga Hospital and a microsurgery conference in Mumbai.  He then spent 3 months surgical observation in Ganga’s operating theatres alongside the team of three nurses who spent time observing operating theatre and post-operative recovery nursing skills.  Our thanks go to the Burdett Trust for nursing, and Jersey Overseas Aid  for the funding that has allowed ReSurge Africa to support Dr Jalloh and our three nurses and give them this valuable opportunity to improve their surgical and post-operative recovery skills in the highly professional environment of Ganga Hospital.  On their return to Ghana, Richmond, Benedicta and Anita will be ready to pass on their new training to the rest of the nursing cohort, both in Ghana and as mentors to our Sierra Leone nurses. Dr Jalloh returns to Accra in Ghana to complete his reconstructive plastic surgeon training.   Our gratitude also goes to Professor Raja Sabapathy  and the Ganga hospital staff who have offered their hospitality, and valued mentorship to our trainees.
