Balansama Janneh has left Makeni in Sierra Leone to start his physiotherapy training in India.  Initially, this is for a 6-month observer placement in the physiotherapy dept at Ganga hospital, Coimbatore. This will lead to a 4 year physiotherapy degree.  At present there is a dire lack of trained physiotherapists in Sierra Leone. Resurge Africa plans to address this issue.  Bala’s background is in nursing. as a community health nurse, with a certificate in mental health counselling. During the ebola crisis in Sierra Leone, he has been working as an infection prevention and control trainer
The placement has been set up by Professor Raja Sabapathy, to whom Resurge Africa is endlessly indebted for his enthusiastic ongoing support with our training programme. Bala will join his colleage Dr Mohamed Kargbo at Ganga hospital, who is in his fourth month of anaesthetic observership placement, at the start of his postgraduate training as an anaesthetist.

This is Bala’s first trip out of Sierra Leone, in fact his first flight ever!  All of us at Resurge Africa wish him well as he begins his journey.
