Dr Nick Scott is a retired physician who was previously the Vice Chairman of Anaesthesia, ICU and Perioperative Medicine at Hamad Medical Corporation, the main provider of health services in Qatar. He had been in this post from October 2012. He remains on the GMC specialist register for anaesthesia.
He completed his training in the UK in 1991 and holds fellowships with both the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Anaesthetists. He is a former consultant anaesthetist at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital, Scotland, where he spent 18 years pioneering RA techniques in cardiothoracic and orthopaedic anaesthesia. His main clinical interests are in pain management and regional anaesthesia and he has published extensively and lectured on accelerated rehabilitation enhanced recovery and quality related outcomes after different surgical procedures.
He was the programme director for anaesthesia fellowships in Qatar and is also responsible for teaching and training at all levels within the department.
He is a past board member of the European Society of Regional Anaesthesia and a past president of RAUK.
