Experienced Nurses Karen McCluskey and Gail Blevins have set off from Glasgow to assist the running of a burns training course at the Korle-Bu training Hospital, in Accra, Ghana.  This course is part of a THET funded Nurse training programme.

Karen and Gail have 43 years burns experience between them and have both worked in the West of Scotland Regional burns unit at Glasgow Royal Infirmary for 29 years and 14 years respectively.  Both are Senior Staff Nurses within the unit and are extremely committed to delivering the highest standard of care to their patients.

“We are privileged to be part of a fantastic team in the burns unit at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.  We volunteered to go to Ghana as we see it as an excellent opportunity to gain new experience and share our knowledge and skills in treating the patient with a burn injury.  We hope that the visit will be of benefit to ourselves and the nursing/burns team in the unit at Korle-Bu”    Karen McCluskey & Gail Blevins
